Cocktail Recipes
Written by Asinus Asinum Fricat on March 27, 2008 – 7:24 am -Everyone loves a cocktail, particularly after a trying day. There’s nothing better than sitting with a few friends outside, a sunset and a jug of Margarita.
I use Cointreau (a tenth of the jug), a good brand of Tequila, finely crushed ice, and lots of fresh lime juice. A little rock salt…

Give me a slash of Bombay gin in a tall glass , add same amount of tonic, 2 ice cubes, a zest of lime…and a sunset!
Did I mention sunsets? Dunno why……
Since I cannot drink alcohol, there are still some “virgin” cocktails that I enjoy - particularly a spicy Virgin Mary.
If anyone has any good recipes for these, I’d appreciate them - what a way to get your vitamins!
I saw a new item in our local supermarket: a spicy tomato juice, I bought one and will report later. Great idea.
Here’s a good one, it’s called a goodnight kiss!
1 drop Angostura Bitters
1 sugar cube
1 splash Campari
Champagne
Add the bitters to the cube and place in the bottom of a Champagne flute. Add a splash of Campari, and then fill it up with Champagne.
Note that Angostura Bitters are a very specific type of bitters with a very unique flavor. You’re only using a drop here, remember, and it makes a difference! I don’t know any way of “substituting” for the Angostura Bitters. Luckily, most liquor stores carry this. Look for the small bottle with the paper wrap around it. Enjoy!
