Well, I’ve just finished cooking up a batch of ratatouille, per your recipe, AAF, and may I say that it is fantastic?

I’ve never made my own ratatouille before today. We ate it over rice (hope that’s not sacrilege) and with some wheat bread-and-butter. I made half the recipe and will have ratatouille for my lunch all week long!

And I’ve been meaning to say: thank you for this great new blog! You’re doing a fantastic job with it–I’m in awe of the variety, quality, and frequency of the main articles you post, and the assiduous way you attend to them. It’s a huge amount of work, and I want you to know that I appreciate it.

I’ve been telling everyone I know with the slightest interest in real food about Politicook. Hope it helps bring new members.

      Oh that sounds good!

I just notified my job I won’t be in tomorrow. Informally, I’m calling what I have a Moses sickness. I think when I finally get well, I’ll be able to explain why, but it has something to do with how much I’ve been sleeping (a lot) and 40 days and nights.

The good news is, it didn’t go into my sinuses or ears. The bad news is, I got really sick! I guess it’s the flu??

      Back to sleep now!

Thanks so much, Anne…it’s fun to be able to post at will, and get really good feedback, but the most important is the quality of the posters, and we’re not disappointed.

Comfort food at our house tonight – fried chicken, mac & cheese and buttermilk biscuits with a wonderful bottle of rose I found yesterday at Trader Joe’s.

Trader Joes is a god find, I once cleaned them out of all the Hunter valley Shiraz from Australia, for $2 a bottle, a feat I could never understand as I used to pay $5 or 6 for the same wine in Sydney. The manager finally owned up to the strategy behind it by my constant pestering and said that it was done on purpose, to “attract the customers like flies to S***t!” Didn’t work with me, ’cause that’s all I bought there.

Trader Joe’s – I never know what to make of the place. I have two near my home – each with very different beverage shelves. It’s basically a take your chances situation. You just need to be ready to buy a case when you find a deal.

Tomorrow night I have a friend coming for dinner, and since our tradition is to have a Chinese night every Monday, it’s going to be Chinese takeout! It’s fabulous to be able to report that there are two good places here. I’ll tell you a great story tomorrow night, after the dinner….
