I had to entertain a friend of mine tonight, at home. We had Chinese takeout, it’s sort of a tradition in our household, every Monday nights, hence the lack of posting. We go to the same restaurant, every Monday nights, owned by Mandarin speaking Chinese, little English, but the two kids, boys aged 7 and 5 are very vocal and can swear in both languages…anyway, a few weeks ago, the owner said he had to go to Honk Kong for a family matter, and had to close for two weeks. Knowing that I showed up every Mondays, he told me to come to the door, and his cousin would open it and cook for us. So I went there, knocked on the door, and the smiling cousin opened up and well, just smiled at me, he had no English. He dialed his cell phone and handed it to me. It was the owner, taking my order so he could tell his cousin what I required. And so, at the end of the day, I was probably the only person in the world who could call Hong Kong, order food and get it in the West of Ireland within 20 minutes. Now, that’s technology for you!!
Food tonight was astounding. Shrimps done in a Huan province sauce, noodles laced with chillies & green onions, spicy squid, lemon chicken fried rice…………. I have to go to sleep, having eaten and drunk to the limit, which is unusual with me………..
I had a strange day as usual. I took my male cat for his huevo removal and about five minutes after dropping him at the vet, he called and said that Spooky was loco and escaped. I went back and the vet was scratched and bitten on his arm and hand, and the cat was gone. He never came home so I have no idea what happened to poor Spooky. I am only a few blocks from the vet so he may find his way home.
I had chile rellenos, beans, rice, and an avocado tomato and onion salad. Tortillas of course.
Just got in from a late shift at work, the dreadful 2 PM to 10 Pm shift, where a throng of patients start lining up at 9:30 PM, all clamoring to be seen for their sore throats, mashed fingers, sinus infections…
I got out by 10:45, and home by 11:15. I’m dog-tired, but my dogs all have the zoomies, so I let them out to zoom around while I peeled off working clothes, and surveyed the kitchen thinking, I’m HUNGBY, and what in the hell am I going to EAT? Too tired to cook, sick of prepared mesls, so I grabbed a whear flour tortilla, put it over a low flame, sprinkled some cheese and chopped onion on it, then spooned some salsa verde (out of the jar), rolled it up and ate it with great relish. Not exactly proper cookery, but better than getting a chimchanga or a burrito from some faux-Mex restaurant that is still open at this hour in my neighborhood.
I’m having to wind down to try to get myself into the state to go to sleep.
G’night friends – see you later. Rest well

I’m now thinking about making my own yogurt.
Where will it end????
It’s very, very easy. The trick is to *not* use ultra-pasteurized milk. Even better, see if you can find a good source of raw milk.
It never ends! Make your own everything! Being retired, it’s so much fun and sooooo much cheaper, and better.
Raw milk is the answer! I haven’t done my own yogurt for ages and writing this is actually making me think about doing it again! Go figure…

Oh, poor Spooky and poor mango. I am so sorry. Losing your huevos must be really tough on the boy. I hope he makes it home.
Hi mango, I really hope spooky turns up again! Am a cat person myself, and find that they usually turn up after a while…
Mango’s gato has gone loco! Bet you he’ll be back…cats know where their daily bread comes from…
I didn’t see this last night. Has he returned?
