Here I am at a lull in the day. Been getting ready to go to Texas to attend my step-daughter’s college graduation. She is wonderful-getting a degree in music. She wants to compose and direct band. AND she sent me a Mother’s Day Card!
We’re having spinach and cheese ravioli with a homemade olive oil, garlic, shallot, asparagus, oregano, salt and pepper sauce, green salad and dressing.
Oh, a university in Houston. We’re going to the graduation on Saturday and fleeing to Galveston on Sunday, got to get a shrimp po’boy at Benno’s on the Beach and walk in the Gulf!
Oh, you know I will! Maybe, since it’s steamy where you are, you need to put your pj’s in the fridge like MM did in “The Seven Year Itch”. I love that movie! I’m just this old movieholic.
The best movie! I saw it again a few months ago – so good!

It is steaming, boiling hot here. Okay, not boiling hot, not yet.
But it is very steamy.
Dinner tonight (low carbing, remember?): a swatch of buffalo chuck smothered in thick buffalo stewy stuff. I’ll have a salad in a little while, but I started with the main course, fully intending to mow and needing strength from a bite to eat.
Alas, it is wa-a-a-ay too steamy. So I’m ging to take a little nap in front of the fan.
When I was on the Atkins diet, one thing I loved was just boiling some whole shrimp with a crab boil packet and making a “dip” of 1/2 mayo (organic – no sugar) and 1/2 mustard (either dijon or French’s). It really satisfied me. Also, going to a really good cheese place and choosing some good cheese for a treat at the end of the day. Much nicer than sweets. I went on the Atkins in 2000 and haven’t really had a craving for lots of sweets since.
Btw, not to grinch too much – okay, to grinch – but according to dKos rationale, the Cherokee Nation, the Choctaw Nation, the Seneca-Cayuga, Miami Nation, Delaware, Absentee Shawnee and a few other Native American tribes are all a bunch of stupid white racists.
Well, I mean, it *is* the Ozarks here and the Clintons reign supreme. So the only possible explanation is it’s all a bunch of white racists here.
And people wonder why I can’t take it very seriously over there anymore!
We think we are one nation, but we are really not. Native Americans have a whole different perspective on life. Things said can be so easily misconstrued. I respect some of the DK people, but less and less as this stupid campaign season goes on. It not just two campaigning till the convention. I remember when the nomination was in doubt until the delegates pledged on the convention floor. It was exciting. It’s also the media, who think they know who to pick, it’s the party who try to manipulate, and it’s the 527′s who put out these horrible viral videos and emails.
Biscuit, just don’t go there for now. Nemaste!
I have to quit going there. I started peeking in a few days ago, and the mind just boggles.
This particularly line of reasoning, however, caused the top of my head to spin off – not from anger, but astonishment at the sheer ignorance.
Note: the Clintons are from Arkansas. The Ozarks are for the most part in Arkansas. Yet Clinton doesn’t win in this area because of her many years here, but because it’s all a bunch of stupid white racists.
Seriously, I’m more and more convinced the place is infiltrated by Republican trolls. And I don’t mean the newbies either.
But you’re right – I will not go there anymore – oh, shoot, I’m lying. I will, too. It’s too entertaining, like Attack of the Crab Monsters or Caltiki or some other very badly done sci fi movie.
Or the perfect one for us – “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes”! Have you ever seen the one that was made at White Rock Lake in Dallas by the guy who owned KLIF?
Well, my observation is that everyone in Michigan and Idaho is a racist Aryan Nation militia member and upstate New York produces little else but domestic terrorists.
I mean, not to put too fine a point on it, but I would think those so anxious to label might figure out that a major reason Obama lost in a landslide last night because his most vocal supporters are calling potential voters stupid white racists. I would certainly expect to lose Michigan and upstate New York if I were running for office and I allowed my publicists and supporters to call Michiganers racist Aryan Nation idiots and upstate New Yorkers potential domestic terrorists.
I’m not sure what supporter’s you are talking about, but that is bad if true. I think it wasn’t the real supporters but the “sort of supporters”, those who want to tear him down. I’ve seen that before many years ago. I think the media has touted radical supporters like Wright and others just to bring down the candidates and plump up their status. It’s all about the media, don’t you know.
Edwards has just endorsed Obama. His is our future. He was my candidate. I hope for Attorney General for him. HE will fire up the voters, HE was the candidate for “We The People”, the MEDIA decided otherwise!!!

I am actually really hungry this evening, as I had to fast late morning/early afternoon for a CT scan, and spent hours at the hospital.
I’m thinking pasta with fresh tomato sauce with (home-grown) oregano, mushrooms and garlic. I’m too tired to go to the grocery store, and those ingredients are what is in the pantry.
And it is steamy here today as well, biscuit. We are under a tornado watch, and thunderstorms are looming. Too hot to cook much.
I hope your tests come out well. It’s not fun having one of those. I’m sending you good thoughts.
Your sauce sounds really delicious. Cook quick and enjoy. The best is that this is good hot or cold.
I made a nice score off craigslist today. I bought 17 cases of canning jars from a lovely older lady who used them for years, took good care of them, and was happy to pass them on to someone else who planned to put food in them. I needed the jars, she needed the (not much) money, and we both came away happy.
This ties in very well with drchelo’s positive assertions just above, since I am planning to use some of these jars to put up food for my sister who has cancer. Good nutrition is the key to any recovery.
My sister? She has a very rare sort of metastasized (Stage 4) thyroid cancer that does not respond to radioactive iodine treatment. It’s in her lungs and bones now. Still very slow-growing, but the only treatment they can offer at this point is a brutal chemo that is only about 40% effective.
Shit, Stage four is not not good. I do say that we, and I hope to speak for hundreds, wish nothing except the very best for your sister, and for you. Community, where are we?

UT-Austin? Or … where?
Oh, a university in Houston. We’re going to the graduation on Saturday and fleeing to Galveston on Sunday, got to get a shrimp po’boy at Benno’s on the Beach and walk in the Gulf!
Enjoy yourself and relish every moment of “that’s my step-daughter!” pride.

Yes. I was eying some shrimp the other day. I can’t go back to the grocery til Friday (payday), but I have plans …
I finished up cutting the lawn, and trimming. No dinner, and it two in the morning. I just do not eat. Warmest regards, Doc.
Boy, you must have ample supplies of buffalo!
Two buffalo “ranches” within 100 miles of me.
Going. Not ging – going.

No!
I love bad movies, though – I’ll look for it!
I found it! Gordon McClendon’s Attack of the Killer Shrew’s. He had dobermans with heavy fir coats on trying to look like bad-ass shrews-too funny!
Oh sh*t, it’s fur not fir. Guess I’ve lived up here too long.
Dude. Thanks!
I truly say to you that I am from Arkansas, borne there, grew up there, and wished that I were still there because Mrs. Translator lives there.
My observation is that most are stupid racists. I am fighting off that label. Warmest regards, Doc.

Go Biscuit,

I don’t like it when it’s steamy this time of year. It means bad weather in the evening.
The good news for us here is that the sun has usually set by the time they get here, so the storms usually don’t have has much energy to get going.
I hope your tests went well. You’re one of my favorites, you know, and your health is important to me.
Thank you, biscuit! I am running on the assumption that my scans are going to be fine, and I’m concentrating on being a well person – and eating well!
I hope your tests come out well. It’s not fun having one of those. I’m sending you good thoughts.
