White House: Marijuana potency increases in 2007
Written by Asinus Asinum Fricat on June 12, 2008 – 2:02 pm -Cry me a river! Marijuana potency increased last year to the highest level in more than 30 years, posing greater health risks to people who may view the drug as harmless, according to a report released Thursday by the White House. Hey, I want what they’re smoking in the West Wing! Since when are we to believe anything that comes out of their potty mouths?
There’s no data showing that a higher potency in marijuana leads to more addiction and marijuana’s withdrawal symptoms are mild at best. Mild irritability, craving for marijuana and decreased appetite — I mean those are laughable when you talk about withdrawal from a drug. Caffeine is worse. And don’t get me started on alcohol, and cigarettes. And Iraq etc…

Ditto, I want what they’re having. Haven’t experienced a good high in 30 years. Nothing like the mellow old stuff. Doesn’t exist anymore, just a marketing ploy.
There was a really sad story on NPR yesterday about all the drug cartels in Mexico and how they are overpowering the police and all the Mexican government has is the army. That is the biggest problem in the drug wars here in North America.
Legalize the good stuff, marijuana (& THC), and everything will change.
Having been through at least a couple of the withdrawals you mention (and at least one you don’t–SSRI-class anti-depressants), I can testify to the truth that nothing in my life I ever did was harder than nicotine withdrawal.
Caffeine? Yup, painful as hell, temporary, and, as my only remaining vice, not worth giving up again.
This BS coming out about cannabis seems like just one more “OMG! OMG! Prmnnt GOP Mjrity Iz only thng 2 save yr kidz! OMG OMG!!!1!”
In reasonable amounts, caffeine is not pernicious except to a few that can not tolerate it because of metabolic dysfunctions. Just do not overdo it.
I used drink a LOT of coffee, and just have pretty much stopped. I love the taste of it, but it does not “get me off”. Perhaps I should go back, since I tend to have trouble awakening these days. Warmest regards, doc.
I’m down to one very, very strong cup every morning, that is all. Works for me.
Logic would indicate that with greater potency would come lesser inhalation of the real injurious agents, the tars in the smoke. I do not see increased potency as necessarily a bad thing, but do recognize that any drug, used to excess, can be deleterious. I suppose that I mean that if the experience of any drug is one’s goal in life, that life should be reevaluated.
With that said, I find the policy towards Cannabis to be insane. Hit methamphetamine hard, because it is a well documented destroyer of the soul, and, life. Alcohol has most probably caused more grief than all other drugs combined, but it is clear that banning it is worse than regulating it.
I offer no panacea, but some sanity would be in order. UV coming at around 21:00 EDT. Warmest regards, Doc.
