This week there’s been very little to discuss. I still have half a bushel of Silver Queen corn to steam and put up. I’m planning to make mayonnaise later today after I go to the store for eggs. (I have dried whole eggs but need egg yolks.) After that, I may make some cole slaw or potato salad.

Back to the paying kind of work now. What’s happening in your kitchen?

I’m going to try a chutney in a little while. I slept very very late, then spent the rest of the morning drinking coffee on my (old) new couch and watching the rain through the bay windows in my living room. I’ve been wanting to do that since I first moved in, but I didn’t have a sofa! Now, though, I do.

I should run over to the farmers market, but I have tons of stuff to attend to here. Besides, I don’t want to get out of my pyjamas.

Wow! You two are just a bunch of energy. There is nothing going on in my kitchen.
I’ll be going to the Ranch to dance later this afternoon and pursue my poor man that I am going after! What to wear?

You’re going to the Ranch to dance? You definitely have more energy than me. Yes, I’ll chop up some apples, but the most active thing I’ll really be doing is trying to get out of a meeting tomorrow so I can stay in my pyjamas on the (old) new sofa all day!

Yep. Every Saturday the Redneck Mothers play music and we all get crazy. I have until about two this afternoon to work myself into some energy.
We are having a bit of rain this morning and it is nice and cool. I should cook and freeze food for the days when it is just too hot. I don’t see that happening though.

I’m skipping the farmer’s market this week. Co-op day was Tuesday, and while I unloaded a bunch of the more perishable food on my child, I still have a ton of veggies that I need to do something with.

One minor and two major client crises to take care of this weekend, and then I hope it will slow down. Just a little. Not too much!

Hey, guys, everyone sound really industrious today with food prep. I have 1/2 a head of cabbage and a recipe from the local paper that I’m trying. The dressing is orange juice, honey, rice vinegar, toasted sesame seeds, toasted sesame oil. I’m adding either basil or cilantro. I don’t know what the measurements are as she NEVER gives them in her column! That’s why I’m trying to have my own column in the paper. If you’re trying to inspire people to try to cook, you have to be precise! Results matter. :-)

I have it all but the toasted sesame oil. Sounds interesting!

Oh, Scotia, that sounds beyond yums.

You have to report back …

Precision is spices is like honesty in politics. It depends on the (eater, cook, voter, politician). I suggest that you start out where you think it might be right, then modify to suit your tastes. Warmest regards, Doc.
