What is going on with AAF?

No one knows how angry I am right now. These folks making this site work deserve much better than being abandoned. No regards to AAF any more,

Even though I am not an expert with the Net, I would be willing to post front page things here (not as good as the ones that the disgusting AAF ones did, but pretty good food and comment in any event), if the community would accept it. What say you?

Translator, if you want to be mad at AAF, that’s your business.
But both Kate and I and most of the posters here are way too busy for it.
I ask that you not post things here in reaction to AAF. This is a blog for very busy people, and we’re not at all interested in blog drama. Well, except for snickering over it on other blogs (especially the homesteading blogs - omg!).
If you want blogdrama, you’re going to have to take it elsewhere.

I do not want to be the owner, but would like to have some income for this site, with we rest of your folks.

Good grief, Translator - we have jobs - well paying jobs.
This is not a commercial site. We don’t want it to be a commercial site.
We weren’t abandoned.
And we are far from helpless little things that need protection.
Please, Translator, you have got to cut out the late night drama. You need to come to grips with the fact that we’re very busy, and we’re all asleep or otherwise engaged when you’re posting this stuff.
This site started out very well, and the guy that sort of was the guiding energy just fucked it off.
I will not do that. If I get a better offer, I will go the the folks here and find a replacement before I go. No abrupt hell I am gone.
Is is just me, or am I right to be livid at AAF for just fucking us off? I think that I am correct. I hope that he are Orange Clouds are happy with each other.
HOWEVER, this is an important site, and I intend to make it stay here, if my friends can help. What say you?

My dear Translator - I thought AAF was not participating as much because this is a busy time of year for his tourist-oriented business in Dingle, a very popular spot for tourists.
However, I have seen him hyping “La Vida Locavora”, and I am disappointed that he has not spent more time here.
I do not think that this site is in any danger of going away, however. We may not have a large number of members, but the ones we do have are such a congenial bunch, I feel like all of you are my close friends, and I learn a lot, have laughs and share difficult times with everyone.
Please don’t be angry. I know it is hurtful, but it doesn’t do me any good for me to get hurt by something like this.
It is a blog. The people who participate are wonderful, interesting people. I love coming here and hearing your stories and reading your excellent teaching posts.
So AAF doesn’t hang here much. That’s his loss. If his ego depends on a larger audience from a blog, then I feel sort of sorry for him.
Please don’t let this get under your skin so. Some people just don’t have the intellectual stretch or curiosity to get out of their comfort zones of just food and recipes..
I may not know doodly squat about inorganic chemistry or the innards of MRI’s - but I learn a lot from you.
Don’t fight the webs. It ain’t worth your temper, dear heart.

I am willing to write here for hours and front page very much stuff (not the science stuff) to get folks back. Right now it is just the four of us, and that is obscene. This is much a better site than than for just four.

Translator, first of all, this site is hardly in danger of dying.
Second, it’s Kate’s site, not AAF’s.
Third, AAF is not here because many of the things he posted were copied and pasted from the work of other people without attribution. When told that all content here must be original, he left. We then yanked his privileges as he’d already deleted some of it - the one that got him busted by wheatfree.org, for one.
Fourth, we’re not interested in blogwars and are completely uninterested in making a big deal of it. Both Kate and I are very *very* busy.
We would really prefer you not make a big deal of it. It’s AAF’s life and La Vida Lacavore’s (unknowing) burden to bear.
Fifth, we really, really don’t want six seven posts from anyone every day. It was the wrong direction for the blog when AAF was doing it. It’s the wrong direction now. Please, don’t do that.
And sixth, we’re doing fine. We aren’t at all interested in becoming dKos.
Ditto everything biscuit said, except that it’s not just “Kate’s site.” Biscuit and I are equal administrators and partners, and all of you make up this wonderful community that *makes* PolitiCook.
It’s true that AAF made the original suggestion that we peel off from dKos. Since I have more of the technical skills, I said I’d host and administer and do the behind-the-scenes work. I was disappointed when he bailed, but it was his decision and I honor that.
You may know that my day job is doing web hosting and design and maintenance. I have been completely slammed since the beginning of the year — everybody needs a website and they need it now!!! There are some days I manage to check in here once or twice. Some days, like yesterday when my internet service was frustratingly flaky and often completely down, I didn’t get online and in here until after 6 pm.
Our daily traffic is not huge and we did lose some visitors and posters after AAF’s exodus, but our traffic is now back to earlier levels. We have a number of people who just come to read. I think it will grow, slowly and naturally, and that’s the way it should grow. We are doing fine in our little corner of the world.
Doc, we love you for caring and for wanting to make things happen. Have patience. It will be as it’s meant to be.
I love the intimacy of the small group. I find this blog very comfortable and full of good friends. It is a nice place to visit and say what is on my mind without repercussions.
