Drink it, two-three times a day. And take ibuprofen, not aspirin. And put your foot up. And don’t get dehydrated.
A teaspoon or so at a time in water.
I am certain I got it from contaminated grain because the critters that died when that happened had the same crystals in their kidneys as those that cause gout!
It’s a very strange disease because it’s happening to really young people now - and athletes! Apparently lots of physical exercise can trigger it!
Totally strange stuff.
But baking soda zaps it. Mind you, one of my nieces has a kidney disorder - her kidneys can’t process the aminos from proteins - and she has to take baking soda every day for the same reason, and it works for her, too.
And drink LOTS of non-caffeintated liquids! The less concentrated your urine - the more water you have in your veins, the less likely the level of uric acid will build up to the point where it will precipitate.
And biscuit is correct about the aspirin - although the anti-inflammatory effect may help the pain temporarily, aspirin actually competes with uric acid in the kidney for excretion. The kidney can’t tell the difference between the two acids, and will excrete less uric acid to excrete the aspirin.
If ibuprofen isn’t sufficient, ask your farmacia for indomethacin (”indomethina”) as it is a more kick-ass anti-inflammatory, but it may be harder on your stomach.
Sending prayers. My late father had gout, and it can be really, really painful.
The difference from yesterdays report is that it appears to be headed into the Gulf of Mexico instead of up the East coast. Anyway, here is this afternoon’s report.
We’re watching it closely. It is supposed to miss us but these things can be notoriously unpredictable. I may pick up a few canned goods at the market tonight.
I have pantries full of canned goods because of our weather here. But — aside from tornados and flooding — our issues arise from ice storms.
I’m always relieved when tornado season is over here. But this year, hurricane season is acting like tornado season because you all are getting one right after another.
mango, I’m sorry to hear about the gout. What about fresh vegetables? Can you eat those in addition to the beans and rice?
Oh yes. He did say for me to eat lots of fruit and vegetables.
I’m telling you, baking soda zaps it!
Do I drink it or soak my toe in it? How often and what proportion. Thanks.

Biscuit, thanks a lot. I will get some tomorrow.

Oh Oh! Does this path look familiar?
Not good!!!
Yargh!
I’m not the best geographer, but it looks like it’s heading straight for you, Kate.
Yep… although the way these things have been wandering around, who knows where it will end up. Either way, I’ll start getting ready now.

The Gulf is getting clobbered this year, t seems like.
That said, it looks like it’s going north of you - ?

Yea, I noticed they’re unpredictable.
