The past several days we’ve been hit by robot random user registrations coming from eastern Europe. I’m investigating the possibility that this may indicate a SQL injection vulnerability, but in the meantime I’ve added a CAPTCHA feature to new user registration. That’s one of those annoying boxes where you have to type in the words or letters to prove that you are a real person before you can actually register.

If you are a real person, I apologize for the trouble and hope it is only temporary.

If you are not a real person, go away.

Does this mean we’re famous enough to infiltrate?
Will we get cooking trolls posting disgusting recipes using trans fats, high-fructose corn syrup and large amounts of preservatives?
I don’t know what your alphabet soup means, but I feel safer, knowing that our Kate is protecting us!

        Kate,
Thanks for your vigilance! It gets harder every day to protect ourselves. Do I need to re-register?

Nope! Everyone who is here is good. This just makes sure that new people who try to register are really people.
