I’m getting ready to de-dog the room I’m currently using as a bedroom.

I won’t know how good it smells in here ’til tomorrow, when I venture back out into the world. Fingers crossed, when I return, omg, the cleanest, best smelling place!

Sometimes one has a really good day that gives one hope followed by another good day that gives one hope. I am so lucky that happened to me. I have been so down for a long time and the last two days have been a treasure.
Yesterday was a mental health day and a dance with a wee girl in a tiara. Today was a roomful of 300 “Women for Obama” and women candidates for local office. I was a greeter at the event and got to talk to alot of women. It made my heart sing to know, here and now, we have alot of fired up women on the trail for new voters and for tipping over ‘independents’ into the Obama column.
Heartwarming stories, like the GLBT woman who got beaten up for who she was and wearing an Obama cap, or many older women who walked thru the door with canes, in wheelchairs, assisted because they couldn’t see, just because they wanted to be in a room with other Women for Obama and be inspired to go out for the final push. WOMAN, I AM INSPIRED!!!!

Scotia, I’m so glad you had a good day.

And I know it sounds stupid, but … courage! Seriously.

Thanks, Biscuit, I NEEDED a day like today. You’re not gonna like this, but, it was really cool and overcast and just all round pleasant here. (currently 60)

            Oh, that sounds lovely!

I just bought an air mattress for my new bed. I can’t wait six more months til I save up the money for a queen mattress, esp. because I plan to ASAP replace the old sliding glass door and put in another door in the kitchen, fix the sump pump and do some electrical work, and I’m saving up for all of that first.

Thus: the air mattress. This means I can sleep in my beautiful new vintage rattan bed every night woohoo, and still have two other beds for guests without breaking the budget.

I must give you a tip on mattresses. My SIL clued me into a great, cheap mattress. Commercial upholstery foam. We both have a slab about 6″ thick, really dense and queen sized for about $200 at the local upholsterers in Ft Worth. I’ve used it for two years so far and really like it. No deterioration or soft spots. I use a padded mattress cover on it and it has worked out really well. I flip it every month either side to side or end to end to keep it fresh. I can give you the density if you want to look into this.

Oh, I also want to say, I have an old, good set of box springs upon which my foam mattress sits. If I had a bed frame that had a solid, flat base, I probably wouldn’t need box springs.
