Kossack needs to be defended
Written by Translator on October 6, 2008 – 7:42 pm -UPDATE: those of you who read my posts regularly know that I am usually dispassionate and logical. This is an exception. Dr. Harrison saved the lives of Mrs. Translator and Eldest Son, so emotions and memories are overcoming lack of emotion this time. I hope that it does not make me any less credible insofar as the science posts go, but if it does, it is worth it. Dr. Harrison is as skilled as they come. He did very delicate surgery to deliver Eldest Son, because there there was a lot a scar tissue caused by endometrius. Without the skill of Dr. Harrison, both child and mother might have been in danger.
Dr. Harrison delivered a healthy son to us, and I am grateful to him for keeping both of them well. Now the “pro-life” folks picket him, and someone is alleged to try to run some of them over during their protest.
The protesters are sort of nutty, and here is a link to their site. The link to the story is here. Both sites are populated by nuts, in my opinion.
The story says that a person in an SUV attempted to hit one or more of the protesters on the sidewalk outside of Dr. Harrison’s clinic in his own pro choice protest. If that is the case, I can not defend the driver. But I do know this:
In 1985 when Dr. Harrison was the best OB in the state, Mrs. Translator and I went to him for a difficult pregnancy. Dr. Harrison delivered a sound infant, on time. The protesters were there then, too, shaking signs at a nine months pregnant woman who obviously wanted to deliver a healthy child. We shouted them down, and used the clinic anyway. Today, Eldest Son is doing well (that is 23 years, give of take a couple of months).
One of the protesters had been convicted of breaking into a “head shop” for the marijuana accessories, that then found Jesus. His sentence was shortened (remember, this is Arkansas). They still harass Dr. Harrison.
My point is that Kossacks need to support folks like Dr. Harrison. He was an excellent OB and saved the life of Eldest Son. If he aborts ones not wanted, fine. We wanted ours, and have had been fortunate enough to assist him. Many others have neither the means nor the desire to do the same with theirs. Dr. Harrison has the wisdom to tell the difference.
Warmest regards,
Doc

Is this the poster wmharrison or similar? I remember he was having problems even with dKossians when I was still there.
Hopefully at least those problems have ceased. He has too difficult a row to hoe without a bunch of nincompoops causing him further grief.
No, I posted it when I saw that there was still another protest at his clinic. He saved both Mrs. Translator and Eldest Son from a bad end during childbirth, and I will defend him for that as long as I live.
Warmest regards,
Doc
Yikes! I do wish him the best. He’s a brave man.
I am very serious when I say that a less skilled person would likely have killed both of them. Mrs. Translator had a bad case of scar tissue before the first pregnancy, and he was able to work through it. Dr. Mason, who saved her uterus, as a big contributor as well. Both of us feel very fortunate to have three boys.
Many folks are not as fortunate.
Warmest regards,
Doc
