Sunday Morning Budget Busting: Time Management

Written by biscuit on October 12, 2008 – 9:27 am -

This morning, I’m going to present you with an example of do as I say, which is what I do: I’m going to conserve my time by painting trim rather than blogging.

Talk amongst yourselves — oh, and here’s another pic of the creepy crawly to get you motivated:

Before I went into the hospital, I did something I probably should have done a long time ago - I hired a cleaning service to help me really clean my way-too-big house.
And boy! Three bedrooms - even with two shut off - sure do accumulate a world of dust and dirt!
It was a bit like an archaeological dig, the stuff that came out from under the bed! That is where all those shoes were hiding. No room for creepy-crawlers there! And there are books under all that dust!
The service did not make my house look like anything out of “Southern Living”, but it really helped with the heavy lifting part. It’s amazing how much dust even unused rooms (and unplayed baby grand pianos) can accumulate…

I’ve thought about bringing someone in to clean every few months but, weird as this sounds, the way I clean is kind of a good gauge of my physical and mental state.

Right now, I’m uber-exhausted, so I’m extremely scattered and can’t get anything finished.

But I have a four day weekend coming up!! :troll

Or you can do as I did, and go away for two weeks in a total panic and flurry of getting-ready. Of course, you have to have had the foresight to raise two beautiful children who don’t want you to come home to a dirty house…

They cleaned the bathrooms. They cleaned the carpets. They took down and washed window curtains that were fuzzier than an unsheared sheep. They cleaned the kitchen so thoroughly I still can’t find all my pots and pans. :D

I love my kids. I think I done good.

Good gawd, it’s almost enough to make me want to birth a couple of live adults — as long as I didn’t have to feed them and send them to college.

        Note: almost! :P

Now - I have four furry children who can be trained to do things like “Sit” and “Stay” - but they specialize in carrying IN dirt, not taking it out.
On the other hand, the furry children don’t make me worry about other things like any of them getting pregnant or getting into unhappy relationships! And they are really good about loving me without measure!
They also leave me all their hair in the house!

We’ve been so very, very lucky with our two-legged children. DD is married (their tenth anniversary is this week), no children, happy as a clam in high water. #1 Son is still at home, college graduate, working full time at a place where they completely appreciate him and pay him very well, has weathered one less-than-stellar relationship and come away with his heart intact… and no offspring scattered about.

Our furry children, on the other hand, are much like yours in the dirt and hair department. :)

Yippee! The storm was a no show. It dumped an inch and a half of rain and went along its way. What a relief!

Hooray for (only slightly damp) mango and friends!

Whew! I was a little bit heartened by the looks of Odile on the NOAA map this morning - but hearing the news from on the ground is SO much better!
A little rain? No biggie - I hope you kept your electricity throughout it all.
I must confess, I had a great time reading about San Patricio last night when I was looking up the correct map! What a lovely little place it sounds like.
You be careful there, mangocita! We all may just show up at your doorstep one of these days…
