Yes. He's wonderful! But this is an oil state filled with doofuses, and Inhofe has spun his deep patriotism to the Oil Industry to the hilt.

Rice is really popular in the town where I live, but half the town is Black, Indian or both, so even Obama signs stay standing.

Unfortunately, I suspect he doesn't stand a chance, which is very very disappointing. He's wonderful! But alas: oil idjits.

Is Rice the one challenging the certifiable Inhofe?

Warmest regards,

You are exactly right. Arkansas is rich in water, and water will be the next pinch point after energy.

Warmest regards,

For real. I even sat down with two state senators (including that simply heavenly Andrew Rice, omg, he's soooo cool!) and had it explained to me.

As we all know --- and as they themselves said --- the oil wars are nothing compared to what the water wars will be.

And because Indian Nations are dependent sovereign nations w/i the nation, they are not necessarily bound by state and/or federal law. ThusL the Choctaw Nation's negotiations w/ the state of Texas over water rights.

Arkansas wants control of its waters, though.

Point in fact: Texas is trying to buy Oklahoma's water. Although the state has legislated such that Texas cannot buy *Oklahoma's* water, the Choctaw Nation is now negotiating with Texas to sell the Choctaw Nation's water to Texas.

You do not want Arkansas to go that route --- and you all share a border with Texas, so you know it's coming.

< /steps off soapbox>

btw, this whole chirality thing is fascinating!

Exactly correct, the natural one is the L configuration. It is not that complicated a molecule, so should be fairly easy to synthesize. Normally, a 50/50 mixture of each results from conventional chemical synthesis.

Warmest regards,

I liked that Sayers book, even though it was not a Peter Wimsey one...mushroom poisoning, natural versus synthetic muscarine.

Dorothy Sayers wrote an utterly fascinating murder mystery in 1930 called "The Documents in the Case," in which the proof of murder and not accident relied entirely upon the handedness of a particular molecule.
