Another downer news story: two men apparently shot each other over a toy on sale at Toys R Us in California.

As for me, painting is slow but steady. Painting all this wood is taking forever, but I think I should be finished with the outer part of the hall by tomorrow (oh yea, right) ( ). Then I start on the skinny inner part of the hall, which has much less wood trim and much more flat wall.

Good for you, biscuit! I’m proud of you. Do you think that perhaps NOT live-blogging your home maintenance results in more visible results?
My main project today was nibbling away at leftovers and napping in preparation for working a shift tomorrow.
I was weak today – I agreed to work an evening shift on Tuesday. I need a new laptop, and that is how I justified agreeing to work a shift during the week – that and Vivian really needs a day off.
      Wish me luck!

We went out to lunch today, then to the cleaners to drop off and pick up. Traffic everywhere was very, very light. Wal-Mart and Sam’s parking lots were only about half full. Of course we didn’t venture near the Giant Parking Lot called the Galleria, but still… unless everyone went early in the morning and then went home, there wasn’t much shopping traffic out there today.

That’s because everyone in Alabama is hunkered down back in the hills armed to the teeth and waiting for the rioting to break out.

(ps – i don’t really have an AK.)

The fridge arrived and froze all my eggs. I hope the thermostat is adjusted correctly. Hell! I can buy a new one now!

Don’t bother with clean linens, mango – just point me in the direction of the nearest jalapa and I’ll buy a hammock…

Good Morning, my friends! I didn’t get up very early today and had a great bath and am eating leftovers in a little while. Gosh, I love cooking like a maniac and then eating all the leftovers.
Factoid: you can make your own small amount of a Kayro substitute for a pecan pie if you only use Kayro which is HFCS and icky once a year. Just make a simple syrup with 2 C sugar and 1 C water, boil until thick and cool until useable but still clear for mixing in the pecan pie. It is just as good and no HFCS!
I am glad everyone had a great T-Day and just enjoy the weekend, y’all!
Uh, Kate, we’re lookin’ at a Mossberg…..good shootin’?

My best friend’s mother used to make sugar syrup for our pancakes when I was a kid. It was so yummy!

I finally learned how to make a good carmelized syrup after three tries. YOU LEAVE IT ALONE!!! Whew! That was a fun thing to learn.

Good shootin’. Get the low-recoil shells for it, though, unless you are built like Joe Montana.

Wow, ya know we have bears and elk and moose that come in the city occasionally. When I was in Alaska we used an “elephant gun”. I don’t know what it was but it packed a punch and they told me if I ever used it I might get a broken shoulder if I didn’t hold it snugly to my shoulder. Guess things have greatly improved since then.

                  I did it.

I just bought an ice cream maker and an electric dehydrator from Amazon.

The ice cream maker, no surprise there. I loves me some ice cream, and it is so easy to make. Just some milk, flavoring of your choice and sweetener.

The electric dehydrator, however, signifies that I have finally – after years – abandoned my search for The Perfect Solar Dehydrator. ::sigh::

I used money from my redecorating budget. The date for installation of the french doors in the kitchen has been delayed until I get my tax refund (which should be ginormous this year).
