I promised I’d get a better photo with the new camera. This time I was enchanted to discover the little bluebirds and purple grapes in the ornamentation.
This image of the frieze at the top of the two-story building was taken from across the street. I even impressed myself with this one.

Here’s an overall image of the building, taken from roughly the same spot I was standing.
The red rectangle outlines the area covered by the image above.
Also, I’d like to introduce
Narrative Point of View.
I am having a great deal of fun sharing my photographs with you all (and I intend to keep doing it every day). There are some, though, that I’d like to resurrect, pictures and stories once posted to a very old blog that won’t quite fit on PolitiCook.
For instance… the house of the mysterious mannequin. There’s an entire year’s worth of posts about her. And Pete’s Famous Hot Dogs.
So I’ve set up this parallel blog to share those kinds of little observations. I hope you find something to enjoy there.
Kate, it’s beautiful! Can we blogroll it?
You sneaky girl you! I had no idea.
Just lovely!
Sneaky, that’s me.
(To be perfectly honest, I had no idea either… until about 7:30 this morning, when I bought the domain name. All of this has been done just today!)
Well, I’m not surprised. You have wonderful sensibilities.
Kate,
What a photographer you are! I love your “eye” for pictures. The detail in old buildings is wonderful. Isn’t that acanthus leaves? Think the motif has a symbolic meaning?
Gosh, I’m full of questions today.
They are indeed acanthus leaves. I don’t know if I can find out the story behind it, but I’ll try!
Okay, Kate, I made up a little side bar thingy, but I think it would look much nicer right beneath the little box that says Meta.
The problem: I don’t know how to do that without crashing the entire site. ::hint hint::
I’ll fix it.
Yay!!
It will look so lovely up top. :purple:
Ack. It’s not as easy as it used to be. It might not be done until tomorrow.
That’s okay. Do I need to do some blogroll housecleaning?
No, I don’t think so. The default order for categories (the titles Blogroll, Kate’s Other, Our Ex-Blogs) is alphabetical and B tends to come before K.
There, I fixed it by putting a dash in front of Kate. Not perfect, but it works.
Wow! I’m signed up and I’m looking forward to enjoying your photography!
You are indeed a woman of many talents, Kate.
Look out, y’all, Greyfox is posting today!
Kate, your pictures are, as always, wonderful. I’m on the other site.
