I think I’ve gone insane. I’m considering returning to school to finish my Ph.D.
You insane? I think not.
Today my friend are going to decorate the cable the satellite guy left dangling from the top of my stairway to the tv in the living room. He cut it so short that I cannot hide it behind the picture on the wall. We will be decorating it for the different holidays.
ooooo, that sounds fun! Perfect putzing activity.
I think that this time off is addling your brain, dearest biscuit.
Get back to home maintenance and do some serious heavy putzing. The physical activity will clear your mind of excessive educational delusions for the short term.
Hold the PhD. thought until the beginning of next semester, and if it is still percolating then, I think it might be a reasonable option to consider. But not now.
:purple: :purple:
Good advice. The thought shot into my mind last night, and I’ve been mulling it ever since.
But this is not the time to be thinking about that.
Biscuit! You need a nice beach vacation. My door is open.
I do, don’t I?
Come on do it! You can assist with the cable decorating and many other fun things that our addled brains thinks of.
Oh I wish! In the midst of all this being way too busy-ness, I seem to have completely screwed up my bank account. Arrrgh! I’m off to the bank now!
I got hacked!
So much for Apple’s inhackability – it happened through iTunes.
Yeesh …
How can you tell when your Mac has been hacked and what do you do about it? I don’t use iTunes…
I bought 4-5 songs through iTunes a few weeks ago.
This morning, I began paying my bills, and I couldn’t pay any of them. I was baffled, so I went down to my bank.
They discovered hundreds of dollars worth of songs bought through iTunes from Hong Kong yesterday. They’re working with iTunes now to get all the charges removed. I mean, it’s not like I flew over to Hong Kong Saturday night, charged a bunch of stuff to iTunes, then flew back. I mean, come on now!
In the meantime, they’ve cancelled my credit card and I’m going through *everything* changing all my information.
The bank told me Paypal and iTunes are the worst.
You’d think, with the great security for their computers, iTunes would be just as safe. Um NOOOOO!
Yeesh!
Oh biscuit, I am so sorry. That is one of the reasons that I pay for all my online purchases with a credit card, not my bank account.
I got charges on a credit card years ago from buying something at a Scottish Festival. It was probably kids that scammed my number, they charged a subscription to Playboy and a subscription to some celebrity porn website. The credit card people were really nice and took charges off and gave me a new card promptly. They laughed as hard as I did when I saw the charges since I’m a middle aged woman!
I think it will be okay. I was just able to pay one of my bills, which suggests iTunes removed the charges … although I suppose I could go up to the site and check …
It’s just a frustrating way to spend the day. The good news is, it happened while I’m on vacation. I usually pay my bills on the weekend, but I putzed instead yesterday. So I got a late start, meaning after the bank had opened and the accounts, updated.
So I found out almost immediately.
Lesson learned!!! Paypal account now closed, other accounts seriously ramped up or closed.
Edited to add: Had I paid bills over the weekend, they would have been approved, and it would have been days before I figured out something was afoot. As it worked out, I found out almost immediately.
I’m glad I don’t use either iTunes or PayPal for anything. Scotia, I use one credit card like you do, too.
How scary for you, biscuit, and what a terrible feeling not to be able to use your bank like you’re accustomed to!
I don’t like paying bills online. I still use the old-fashioned paper check in an envelope thing. With a stamp and a hand-written address.
Paying my bills online has been incredibly handy. Alas, I may be returning to the old fashioned way now!
We live on a busy street with a lot of foot traffic and our mail box is right out at the sidewalk and we’ve had it tampered with twice this year. Neither the police nor the post office will do anything. So any bills I pay or bills or checks received, I have to take it to the post office. Such a hassle. I pay bills online as much as I can. My sweetie is the luddite about paying bills by check!
My street is constantly patrolled by the cops because there’s one (or two?) living down the street from me, and because there’s a grade school nearby.
But I’m pretty fanatical about the paper stuff anyway. I hand-shred *everything* – do it once a month. I accumulate a huge pile of stuff, then sit down to shred it. Then I dump stuff on it. Spoiled stuff is the best.
I used to compost it, but alas my large composter is still at my other place.
Gad, now I’m going to have to completely rearrange how I do everything again. What a pain!!!
Oh, biscuit, what a major pain! At least your bank isn’t giving you trouble about it.
At least it’s happened during my vacation. It could have turned out to be catastrophic otherwise, due to simple lack of time.
ps – Look for an announcement when the Lounge goes up in a couple of hours.
