First United Methodist Church (1891) bell tower and the Harbert Center (1989), currently the tallest building in Birmingham.

    Welcome back. That is a beautiful tower. There was one in Austin that I loved to look at every morning on the way to work. Morning made it golden. :-)

        Have you ever read Ken Follett’s “The Pillar’s of The Earth”? It is about the building and builders of one of those BAC’s (big-ass cathedrals)!
        We just got a copy from the library. I haven’t read it in 20 years, but it was really fascinating. The cathedral is a real living character in the book.
