White House: Marijuana potency increases in 2007

Written by Asinus Asinum Fricat on June 12, 2008 – 2:02 pm -

Cry me a river! Marijuana potency increased last year to the highest level in more than 30 years, posing greater health risks to people who may view the drug as harmless, according to a report released Thursday by the White House. Hey, I want what they’re smoking in the West Wing! Since when are we to believe anything that comes out of their potty mouths?

There’s no data showing that a higher potency in marijuana leads to more addiction and marijuana’s withdrawal symptoms are mild at best. Mild irritability, craving for marijuana and decreased appetite — I mean those are laughable when you talk about withdrawal from a drug. Caffeine is worse. And don’t get me started on alcohol, and cigarettes. And Iraq etc…

McCain Watch: Another Iran Gaffe!

McCain’s New Iran Gaffe: If The ‘Average American’ Thinks Ahmadinejad Is In Control Of Iran, Then So Do I!

mccainsex.jpg

Yesterday, the Wonk Room’s Matt Duss noted that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) often incorrectly portrays Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as if Ahmadinejad has a significant role in formulating Iranian foreign policy. He doesn’t. Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and Iran’s National Security Council set Iran’s foreign policy.

Yesterday, Time’s Joe Klein pressed McCain on the issue, but McCain refused to concede he was wrong, saying he disagreed that Khamenei runs Iranian policy behind the scenes. McCain added that because the “average American” thinks Ahmadinejad is Iran’s leader, that’s good enough for him:

MCCAIN: I mean, the fact is [Ahmadinejad’s] the acknowledged leader of that country and you may disagree, but that’s a uh, that’s your right to do so, but I think if you asked any average American who the leader of Iran is, I think they’d know.

Well the average American, Mr El Stupido, happens to know that the power in Iran rests with the Ayatollah, and has been for the last, oh well, three decades. And this is the guy who wants to be the president?

The Lying McCain is at it Again!

Written by Asinus Asinum Fricat on May 18, 2008 – 3:16 pm -

John McCain’s national finance co-chairman has stepped down, the latest casualty of a presidential campaign eager to cauterize damage caused by its ties to lobbyists. Not bad for Mr “Double Talk Express”, who keeps insisting he’s completely clean off lobbyists. Yeah, right.

Former Texas Rep. Thomas G. Loeffler, one of McCain’s key fundraisers, resigned in the wake of a new McCain policy on conflicts of interest that required campaign volunteers to disclose their lobbying connections. Read more »

The AP reports on Obama’s swift and forceful response to Bush and McCain’s criticism of his foreign policy approach:

Barack Obama laid into John McCain on Friday for advancing a tough-guy foreign policy that he called “naive and irresponsible,” serving notice that he’s ready to launch a full-throttle challenge to the Republican presidential contender on international relations in the general election campaign. Yeah! Go Obama, make mincemeat of this jerk.

Politics, politics!

Written by Asinus Asinum Fricat on May 16, 2008 – 5:21 pm -

Senator Barack Obama hit back at President Bush today during a speech in Watertown, South Dakota for “dishonest and divisive” comments made by the president in Israel, which inferred that the presumed Democratic presidential nominee’s calls for talks with Iranian officials resembled appeasement with the enemy.

“The president did something that presidents don’t do,” Obama said, charging that Bush’s words targeted other Democrats, as well. “He said that we were appeasers no different than those that appeased Adolf Hitler.”

“That’s exactly the kind of appalling attack that’s divided our country and alienates us from the rest of the world,” Obama added, before taking aim at McCain also for also “embracing Bush’s comments.”
